Nanette

Nanette has worked in most sectors of education – primary, middle, secondary and further education and until July 2005 was headteacher of a highly successful primary school in Hemel Hempstead.

Nanette is passionate about the importance of providing every child with a quality education.  To this end she has introduced a number of innovative strategies at her school to enable all children to achieve within a caring and enabling environment and this year received a Leading Aspect Award for ‘Raising Achievement through Challenge and Innovation’.   Among the strategies used in her school to raise self-esteem and attainment Nanette has introduced working partners, thinking skills – using a range of programmes across the age groups, multiple intelligences, accelerated learning and NLP (she is an NLP Practitioner!).  Nanette’s school is the first in the state sector to introduce Tools of the Mind in the Foundation State, a thinking skills programme for Early Years based on the work of Vygotsky.

As well as leading a primary school, Nanette has worked with many schools within Hertfordshire to develop approaches to teaching and learning, managing teams, supporting staff in challenging schools, time management and coaching.  She has worked on NCSL’s leadership programmes, including NPQH as an Assessor and WTFS as a consultant facilitator and was seconded as an LEA Adviser for two years. She delivers the London Leadership Centre’s Mentoring/Coaching courses and believes that every headteacher is entitled to a mentor/coach.  Nanette has been coaching headteachers in Hertfordshire for some years and enjoys the challenge of working alongside colleagues in a range of educational environments.
